Getting dressed for work every morning can turn into a major drag – you’re rushed for time, you’re tired and you’re not so pumped about hurrying into work for that early meeting – so some go-to looks are key. One of my fall-back options on particularly rushed mornings is a comfy tee with a pencil skirt – necessary items for every woman’s closet – which can easily come together as an office-appropriate look. I found this tee on sale recently and decided that while its cropped silhouette was most likely appropriate for weekends paired with jeans, it could also work with a slim skirt for the office.

    

What to Pack: Labor Day Weekend

As I’ve previously mentioned, I get pretty sad around this time of year every year as my favorite season comes to a close, so it’s somewhat bittersweet to celebrate Labor Day Weekend. While I love any excuse to take a long weekend away, this particular holiday signifies the end of summer, and that’s something I’m not so fond of. That said, I still love a good farewell-summer bonfire with good friends and good beers, and that calls for some casual late-summer attire.

Bermuda Triangles

So my love for (obsession with) all things neon has clearly not yet subsided, as I recently spotted this tank’s neon triangular appliques from across a boutique and beelined. Can we please bring neon with us into fall? I’m gonna go with yes.

Another thing of note about this outfit: When I was anywhere from, say, talking age to about 10 years old, I would have nothing to do with any and all things pink or purple and preferred to stick with my trusted blues, greens and browns. My 8-year-old self would be horrified at my current state.

Weekend Details

Late-afternoon beach rosé (American Apparel tri-blend halter romper)

We traveled down to Bald Head Island this weekend, and I was surprised to find that it was nearly deserted with families having returned home and kids having gone back to school. I get a sort of nostalgic sadness in the last days of summer every year, and it hit me like a ton of bricks this weekend despite glorious weather and beaches nearly all to ourselves. Regardless, I still love the shore in these late days of August – can’t seem to shake it.
