Joshua Tree

JoshuaTree_WebBook_8I’m not that into reposting lookbooks here super often but HOLY MOLY. Revolve dropped this beauty the other day and I have to say, while I’m normally pretty averse to vacations that don’t involve the sea, I somehow found myself immediately mentally planning my next desert getaway. And all the denim/pastel/textured awesomeness I’d like to pack in my desert-bound suitcase.

On the Hunt: Holiday Party Dresses

I know there are about a gazillion features on holiday party dressing out there on the interwebs right now, but I couldn’t resist – party dresses are awfully fun, aren’t they? And let’s be honest – events of all shapes and sizes are plentiful this time of year, and we’re going to need something to wear.

Weekend details

We headed down to Emerald Isle, N.C., this weekend to catch a few rays and waves, and despite less-than-stellar weather forecasts and a tropical storm that popped up out of nowhere (um, last I checked hurricane season wasn’t due for at least another month), we had a near perfect weekend full of sun, sand and surf. Plus lots of eating and drinking. Hooray summer!

Clockwise, from upper left:
White wine sangria on the porch
The boys
Sun + live oaks
Marsh walks with Milo (Madewell sweater, Kenneth Jay Lane necklace, Gucci sunglasses)
Grill prep
Cuteness
Stand up paddleboarding
Beach bound (Urban Outfitters hat, Gypsy 05 coverup)

Anyone got any awesome summer plans? Fill me in and make me jealous.

Pops of neon

Ok, ok – I know everyone is getting tired of neon. But you know what? I’m not. I can’t get enough of it. I was reminded of this yesterday when one of my favorite bloggers discussed her love of the return of neon, noting particular affection for it given her status as a child of the ’80s. Possessionista’s got an awesome collaboration going on with LaSoula expressing that love of neon – and diamonds (see below, number 8. And remember that my birthday is just around the corner). Anyway, I too was a child of the ’80s and am seriously digging the bright accents cropping up everywhere, so I figured I’d share a couple with y’all, though there are so many awesome pops of electric color floating around the interwebs right now that it was hard to select just a few.

1. Charles Philip Shanghai neon brights flat
2. Clare Vivier neon stripe flat clutch
3. Basta Surf Zunzal bungee bikini
4. Pura Vida bracelet hair ties
5. Blue Life tee dress
6. Zara necklace

Summer nights, summer whites

6 Shore Road Gin Beach mini dress, Joe’s Jeans boots, Cleobella Mexicana clutch, Chloe sunglasses

As I mentioned earlier this week, white ensembles are one of my favorite easy summer go-tos. I especially like white dresses, though honestly it’s best to gravitate toward casual ones since the vast majority of my more formal needs are weddings. I found this dress a few weeks ago (really loving the emergence of 6 Shore Road!) and decided I’d toughen it up a little bit with boots instead of sandals, which worked well with our pre-dinner lakeside stroll Saturday night.

Sidenote: I’m a firm believer that the no white before Memorial Day/after Labor Day rules are antiquated, but for those of you that subscribe to that sort of thing, Memorial Day is just around the corner – time to bust out the summer whites.
