Channeling the Season

Given how sunny and spring-like things have been around here lately, it’s difficult not to channel the season (even on the days that are decidedly neither sunny nor spring-like). I found this blazer on mega-sale around the corner and couldn’t resist – it seemed like just the thing for warm-ish days, or to combat the San Francisco fog on less-than-warm days. Let’s hope the fog monster keeps it in check for a bit.

One Coat, Three Ways, and a Giveaway

Muse Apparel Drawstring Anorak, BDG for Urban Outfitters button down, Mulberry Oversized Alexa Bag, Stella & Dot Avalon Crescent Necklace, 80%20 Rina boots, Gap wide brim fedora

Muse anorak (c/o), Rachel Pally dress, BDG shirt (similar), Gap hat, Vintage locket, Stella & Dot necklace (c/o), Mulberry bag, 80%20 boots, Oliver Peoples sunglasses

As we enter that sort of transitional season, I’m realizing that San Francisco is basically always in transitional weather – not hot, not cold, nothing too extreme. It’s pretty rare that I need a serious winter coat, but it’s also not always quite warm enough for just a light blazer. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect in-between jacket for quite some time, so I was pretty pumped when Muse offered to send me this anorak , and I honestly haven’t stopped wearing it since it arrived. It seems to go with just about everything I own, so I’m going to do a few posts this week featuring the anorak in several different looks.

Also, good news: Muse has offered to give a $150 gift certificate to one lucky Sea and Swank reader – use the Rafflecopter below to enter, and good luck!

Blue green

H&M skirt, BDG shirt, C&C California tank, Joe’s Jeans boots

Things have been mighty stormy and dreary around here as of late, and I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired when it comes to style, so I turned to a little blue and green to blend into the landscape. Here’s hoping the golden days of summer return soon!

Go-to tees

Ted Baker skirt, BDG tee, Chloe sunglasses, Steve Madden sandals, vintage locket

This was one of the few moments I made it outside yesterday, given the heat index of 110 degrees. When it’s super hot and sticky around here (and that tends to be quite often), these BDG tees are my go-to. I love a luxurious t-shirt as much as the next girl, but I’m so abusive to them (staining them, ripping holes in them – you get the picture) that the old standby $12 tee is just about perfect for me. What’s your go-to tee?

All tied up

BDG button-down (similar), J.Crew skirt, Dolce Vita Mini oxfords, Mulberry Oversized Alexa bag, Gucci sunglasses

As much as I whine about it, there is an upside to going to work on days when the rest of the country is on vacation, like I did on Monday. I usually walk to work, and it’s nice to start my day with a stroll through a peaceful, sleepy, on-vacation town; it really sets a nice vibe for the day ahead. Moreover, as someone who gets a crap-ton of phone calls and emails, it’s nice to have a day of relative reprieve from that.

But more importantly, I can wear pretty much whatever I want (a huge plus in steamy summer months) – enter short skirts and midriff-baring tops. My grandmother would be horrified. But if her ghost had happened to pop into the office on Monday, I could’ve quickly untied the shirt, tucked it in, and maintained some semblance of office formality. Split-second versatility=bonus!
