Ice cream with Milo in Dolores Park
In the Northern California wine world, Napa and Sonoma get all the (well-deserved) hype, but I’m starting to discover that there are wineries in pretty much every direction from San Francisco (save west, which would be a bit tricky). On Saturday we headed south to the Santa Clara Valley, which seemed to be filled with vineyards offering free tastings and inexpensive wines. Milo came along for the ride, and we spent an afternoon picnicking at Kirigan Cellars, one of California’s oldest wineries. The rest of my weekend was filled with walks through the city, ice cream in Dolores Park and sushi in Japantown – plans made around food and sunny afternoons are the best sort of plans.

Picnic-ing at wineries is just about my favorite weekend activity. There is just something so relaxing and peaceful about it!
